CNR.BiOmics

The project aim is to implement the National Research Center in Bioinformatics for “”Omics”” Sciences (CNRBiOmics), capable of addressing the modern needs of large-scale genomic data production and analysis. This initiative aims to create an infrastructure distributed across multiple regional nodes where projects for the study of applications in personalized and precision medicine and in the life sciences will be implemented. The infrastructure will enhance the services provided by the Italian node of the European Life-science Infrastructure for Biological Information (ELIXIR), dedicated to life science data and applications. In particular, the objective of “WP5 – Distributed Biorepository for the preservation of omics and Bioinformatics data” consists in the implementation of a high-capacity distributed repository, called BioRepository, based on an advanced storage system composed of hardware and software where different types of biological data will be managed, such as: raw data from omics data production instruments; public data resources, called reference databases (e.g. genomic sequences); the datasets resulting from the functional analyses.
