Governance

Dr. Gianluca De Bellis has served as Acting Director of ITB since December 1, 2025.

The Directorate oversees, coordinates, and supports the development of the Institute’s activities, for which it is responsible. Within its scope of competence and in compliance with the Institute’s regulations, it adopts the necessary measures for the Institute’s operation, overseeing the management of human, financial, and material resources. Furthermore, it defines internal organizational measures and represents the Institute within the limits and according to the procedures established by the President.

The Administration Office of the CNR Institute of Biomedical Technologies provides the administrative, accounting, and organizational support essential to the Institute’s research activities and services, operating in compliance with the provisions of CNR regulations and current national legislation.

The Administrative Office coordinates and manages:

  • administrative, accounting, and financial procedures, including budget preparation and monitoring;
  • negotiations, purchasing, and procurement of goods and services;
  • personnel management, in collaboration with the Management;
  • administrative support for national and international research projects;
  • compliance with agreements, contracts, and relationships with external entities and parties.

Administrative activity is guided by the principles of transparency, efficiency, and cooperation, with the aim of ensuring effective support for scientific activities and ensuring the proper functioning of the Institute at all its operational sites.

The Institute Board, as the body representing the internal scientific community, supports and assists the Director in developing proposals aimed at improving experimental activities, with the goal of increasing the quality of research and fostering the development of new skills.

The Board also periodically evaluates the progress of activities and their consistency with the Institute’s mission, contributing to the preparation of the management plan and the annual report on activities carried out.
