Sabino Liuni

Sabino Liuni has a degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Bari 1982 and is researcher at Institute for Biomedical Technologies in Bari (Italy). His since 1989 was involved in research and technical support program in the field of Bioinformatics and also was the responsible for many years of scientific and technical support service of the EMBnet (European Molecular Biology Network) National Node. He is mainly interest has been focused mainly on the design and implementation of specialized databases of nucleotide sequences and on the development of algorithms for the analysis of biosequences . He also developed a specialized database of untranslated regions of eukaryotic mRNAs and related regulatory elements, which is widely used at international level. He currently interest has been focused on development, analysis and management of data generated by High-Throughput platforms of Next Generation Sequencing in Transcriptomics, Metagenomics and small noncoding RNAs projects. His is the coordinator and principal investigator of the several research project funded by national (MIUR-PON, CNR) and international agencies in the field of Bioinformatics. Presently, he is senior research and managing director of the UOS Bari of the Institute for Biomedical Technology, made up by twelve researchers and many temporary empoyees.
