Nicoletta Nuzziello

In 2013, Nicoletta Nuzziello received the master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Bari where she also obtained the Ph.D. in "Biomolecular, Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences - curriculum in Neuroscience" in 2018. In 2014, she was awarded a 2-year research fellowship from ITB-CNR regarding the identification of diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic biomarkers in proliferative and neurodegenerative diseases, for the project "Development of Bioinformatics Infrastructures for OMICS applications in Biomedicine". Since November 2017 she works at the Institute of Biomedical Technologies of the CNR of Bari as postdoctoral research fellow.

Interest areas

Molecular analysis in several neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Multiple Sclerosis) at the omic levels: high-throughput next generation sequencing (HT-NGS) and microfluidic/nanofluidic qPCR approaches for high-density and high-throughput profiling of transcriptome and miRNome. Identification of circulating molecular biomarkers (microRNAs), microRNA-target gene networks, and key developmental pathways associated with several human diseases. Characterization of Extracellular Vesicles (Microvesicles and Exosomes) in human serum, plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. Characterization of cell-free RNA in human matrices.
