Vito Flavio Licciulli obtained a degree in Computer Science at University of Bari in 1992. Since 1994 he is involved in Bioinformatics with the Bari BioInformatics Group and he is currently a researcher at the C.N.R.- Istitute for Biomedical Technologies (ITB), Bari (Italy). His main research activities are: design, implementation and maintenance of specialized biological databases developed in collaboration with internal or other research groups; management and integration of large amounts of biological data (BigData) through the development and implementation of data-warehouses and other data integration tools; development of bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, in particularly for trascriptomics studies, both coding and non-coding; development of WEB platforms and interfaces for the pipelines and software developed in the institute. He is author/coauthor of more than 40 papers in international journals in the field of Bioinformatics, and he has been involved in more 20 national and international project both as participant and as a Principal Investigator and Work Packages head. He has played in several lectures in Bioinformatics courses/masters. He is also responsible of database and computer server management at ITB-CNR-Bari institute.
